Intermountain Cactus is owned and operated by Bob and Judy Johnson. Since 1976 we have been selling winter hardy cactus, agaves and yuccas. Our business is done mostly by mail order and we have shipped cactus to every state in the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. We also have shipped large quantities of cactus to Canada and northern Europe including Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

We are located in in Kaysville, Utah, a small city located in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains at 4,800 feet just north of Salt Lake City. Visitors are welcome but please call first to make sure we are home. We usually are.

We are continually seeking new cacti that are winter hardy and striving for new forms and blossom colors. Our recent additions include new varieties of Opuntias (Prickly Pears) with different colored flowers and unusual spines; Pediocactus with its many varieties; Sclerocactus (The forgotten genus) with its hooked spines; Echinocereus (barrel cactus); and cactus from South America, specifically from Patagonia in Argentina. We also growing two agaves from seed, Agave Utahensis Var. Eborispina with its white spines and Agave Havardiana with its blue leaves. With respect to Yuccas we are growing Joshua Trees as well as the two dwarf yuccas, Yucca Harrimaniae and Yucca Nana.

We recommend the purchase of the 3rd edition of John Spain’s book GROWING WINTER HARDY CACTUS IN COLD/WET CLIMATES. John Spain lives in Connecticut and has been growing cactus since 1965. We highly recommend this book to both the novice and experienced cactus grower. He lists 25 of his favorite cactus and has many color photographs of winter hardy cactus. He gives you the fundamentals of preparing a cactus garden. This book is a must for all who grow these plants. The cost is $19.95 which includes postage.
