Intermountain Cactus is owned and operated by Bob and Judy Johnson. Since 1976 we have been selling winter hardy cactus, agaves and yuccas. Our business is done mostly by mail order and we have shipped cactus to every state in the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. We also have shipped large quantities of cactus to Canada and northern Europe including Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

We are located in in Kaysville, Utah, a small city located in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains at 4,800 feet just north of Salt Lake City. Visitors are welcome but please call first to make sure we are home. We usually are.

We operate on over an acre of ground where we grow thousands of winter hardy cactus. We have four display areas to give visitors some ideas on how to set up their own winter hardy cactus garden. We also have a small greenhouse where we raise our cactus from seed. In 2007 we planted over ten thousand seeds and we continually sow seeds in order to have the largest selection of winter hardy cactus and succulents for our customers. We also grow our plants outdoors in seven raised beds which are between forty and eighty feet long. We are continually seeking new cactus that are winter hardy and continually strive for new forms and blossom colors. 

We recommend the purchase of the 3rd edition of John Spain’s book GROWING WINTER HARDY CACTUS IN COLD/WET CLIMATES. John Spain lives in Connecticut and has been growing cactus since 1965. We highly recommend this book to both the novice and experienced cactus grower. He lists 25 of his favorite cactus and has many color photographs of winter hardy cactus. He gives you the fundamentals of preparing a cactus garden. This book is a must for all who grow these plants. The cost is $19.95 which includes postage.
